It’s the little things that can make or break your weight loss success and your house has a lot to do with it. Is your house stalling your weight loss? Let’s investigate!
What’s in your kitchen?
The food you keep in your kitchen and how it’s placed can have an affect on your consumption. Keep healthy food in line of sight so it will be the first thing you grab for and stick the junk food out of sight/reach or just don’t have it at all.

Is your workout space inviting?
Working out should be fun and if you separate your workout space from everything else you will have the desired go-to mindset. Create the space to be motivational; clean, bright, and organized. Toss the headphones and have the music engulfing the room to add to upbeat atmosphere. Also, don’t feel the need to have a mirror in your workout space. Research suggests that woman feel less confident, energized, and driven than those that can see themselves as they workout.
What does your house smell of?
We all enjoy a fresh smelling house and with all the different ways to spritz your house with the newest fragrance why wouldn’t we. Whether it’s candles, sprayers, plugins or potpourri be conscious of the smells. Stay away from any smells that remind you of foods or sweets. One idea- studies have found that getting a whiff of peppermint a few times a day will make you consume less calories.
Light or dark?
It’s easy to feel comfortable in a dark setting, even with mirrors involved. We can easily feel confident and down a bag of chips with ease. Get out of the rut and open the drapes. Let the light in and brighten up your mood while balancing your circadian cycle. On the other hand, be sure that at night it is dark so you can get a full nights sleep which is crucial to weight loss success.
How is your decor?
Red is a very popular color but research suggests the color red, whether it be your table cloth, walls, or plates, can actually increase your appetite. Use cool colors like blues as they are a hunger suppressant. Scientist believe its because blue does not occur naturally in plants and animals so we just don’t usually have an appetite for it.
How did you do? Is your house stalling your weight loss? If so, make small adjustments as posted above and note how it has changed your mood, weight loss and energy level
